So I’ve been at this for a few weeks now. As Leah told me a number of weeks ago in the comments… take small steps – don’t jump in all at once. And I am so glad that she reminded me of that advice.
Because this past week was AWESOME.
How awesome?
I lost 4 pounds AWESOME.
Yeah I did.
I will contend that there are 3 major contributors to the 10 pounds (WHOO HOO!!!) I’ve lost thus far.
- Accountability. (I wrote about this last week… but it’s SO vitally important… and I love my #mamavation sistas!)
- Tracking what I’m eating.
- Drinking Water.
A couple of weeks ago I took the Brita Challenge – drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily (which equates to about 64-80 ounces of water). So far I’ve been doing pretty good… but I bought myself the new Brita water bottle as an incentive to keep drinking more water throughout the day. Plus? It’s great to know that the water I’m drinking is filtered.
I’m loving this water bottle… and am so glad I heard about it when I did. It’s totally helped me keep hydrated throughout the day – especially at work.
However, I will say this… I did learn a small lesson about myself this past weekend (birthday shenanigans post coming later this week by the way.) When I’m not on a schedule or have a structure to my day, I find I drink less water than I normally do. That was a bit disturbing to figure out and then work to get what I needed in late at night. (Which as you can guess results in late night trips to the bathroom too. Boo.)
Anyway… so far so good for last week.
Let’s just say that this week’s weigh in will be the result of lots of fun… and lots of sweets.
So I’m not holding my breath about losing anything at this point.

You are rocking this!!
4 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Happy Belated Birthday! Cool water bottle, too. I’ve been wondering about them because sometimes water on the go (when I’m not feeling the need to pay $3 a bottle!) can taste funny.
Congratulations on your big loss! It’s amazing what accountability does for us. Just knowing we’d have to write down what we ate, having it stare back at us, often makes us make different choices.
Keep up the good habits! It’s OK to be a creature of habit, especially when they’re good ones like tracking our food and water to make sure we’re eating not just the right foods but enough foods.
Way to go, my friend!

I’ve seen that water bottle and it looks so cool. I don’t drink enough water at all, mainly because I’m too lazy to walk to the kitchen at work. How awful is that? We do have a pitcher in our shared kitchen so we can have filtered water. Great job on the 4 lbs!
I’m glad you mentioned the water bottle – I was curious about those and if they made a difference. I’m the same way BTW about needing to be on a schedule – I have to really focus on my water intake on the weekends whereas during the week isn’t as big of a deal.
Good luck this week!
Whoohoo on the pounds lost- that is awesome!
I hope the fact that you’ve figured out that you need some structure/schedule to keep the water intake going helps you keep it up!
Good luck!
