SOC Sunday: Back from #Blissdom…

So in case you didn’t know, I went to another blogging conference. A conference that I’ve heard people raving about for a year (when I started paying attention to the blog conference circuit) and just knew somewhere in my heart that I *had* to be there.

Blissdom Conference ~ Nashville ~ January 26-28, 2010

And what words can I describe Blissdom with?

Inspired: It’s actually hard to put the words “on paper” to say how inspired I am. To say how much I want to change about myself and how much I want to develop my writing after this. I want to grow myself in so many ways after hearing how to brand yourself… to develop and edit your writing and to write for what you love – and not for the critics.

Overwhelming: With somewhere around 700 people attending this conference, it is by *far* the biggest conference. Though through the entire conference I took the approach I had seen Tiffany from Bloggy Boot Camp successfully use for her conferences around the country. I purposefully sat myself down at a table (mostly) full of women – and some men also – I didn’t know at every opportunity I had. (Note to self… thank Tiffany for this later.) ;-)

Beautiful: Being at Blissdom not only made me feel beautiful about what I was writing about – but I felt beautiful because I was surrounded by others that understood exactly why I write here. Why I blog. Why I use social media. Why I go to conference to learn more and better my craft… so maybe someday I can use this space to continue to inspire others to accomplish great things in their lives as well.

I am still processing so much from this conference… including the words spoken by Brene Brown and Scott Stratton during the keynotes for the event. I am a life changed. I just hope that I can pass it on.

PS… I may have written a little longer than the 5 minutes this week. ;-)

ditto what you said! I tried to move around and meet new people too. :) It takes boldness but it’s so worth it.
Yes, many things to process…I think it could take a while for me.

I am so glad you went & we hung out. The more we talked, the more I felt like we shared so much.

I’m trying to write my Blissdom recap post, but I have so many words and ideas roaming through my head I don’t even know where to start..

I love that you came back feeling that way. It’s like being surrounded by all your peers. People that get you. People that get that you like to write, tweet, photograph, document everything that happens in your life. You are awesome and I’m so glad you had the opportunity to go.

P.S. It’s totally fine that you went over 5 minutes. How could you sum up such a big conference in 5 minutes?

Awesome! And way to go, putting yourself out there like that, sitting with people you didn’t know. I’m not sure I could do that!! So glad you had a good time and took so much from it.

I am so glad you had a blast! I am so ready to hit up another conference. I felt like I wasn’t all there in August at BBC with my dad being so sick. I am REALLY hoping we get to connect again this year!

I hate to tell ya, but this is definitely not the biggest conference. It was actually pretty small, I though – which I loved. (So nice to meet you there btw!) BlogHer was over 2400 people last year and WAY too huge and massive. But oh yes so inspiring. I loved it and have so much I want to do. Now to find the time and energy to actually do it :)

Oh I know it’s not the biggest… but really the biggest I’ve been to (and probably will be to for a while.) The only other conference I’ve gone to have been 125 or less people – so to me, this was big time. :)

      Great meeting you!

And I just went back to re-read the post… and now totally realize what you are saying! I meant to put a “I’ve ever been to” at the end of the “by *far* biggest conference” sentance (this is what happens when I do my stream of conciousness… and then don’t/can’t proof it.)

      *hangs head in shame*
