I don’t typically talk about work often… er, much at all. Primarily because I think much of what I do there would put you to sleep. And I wish I were kidding.
So I’m sharing 10 things I love about my job. However… I noticed as I was putting this list together is that much of what I love about my job doesn’t actually have to do with WHAT I DO. And I’m not sure how I feel about that at the moment. It’s definitely something I’m going to have to think about and consider.
But I digress.
And now presenting…
5.) 10 Reasons why you love your job.
- The location is ideal for shopping on my lunch hour… we have a great downtown to do that in!
- Because it’s in the city – there are lots of bike paths to walk during the lunch for some extra cardio… or maybe even for training for the Breast Cancer 3-day walk I would love to do again.
- Listening to various stations (right now: “The Bridge”) on the XM Radio. One of these days I might get my choice of stations to listen to again. LOL
- Whistling Coworker always keeps me entertained with various show tunes or light-rock hits. (I wish I were kidding with this… but it does make me laugh when I can practically sing along.)
- I get 3 weeks of vacation – and am encouraged to take every minute of it doing things I love.
- During the non-snow-filled months of the year, I drive around the region visiting the offices that work with us. It’s really great to meet with these guys and help them understand how everything works. {Or at least I really like the road trips}
- I am always encouraged to learn new things… especially those related to the field that I work in. But sometimes I get to throw in some techie-things too.
- My bosses sometimes buy us lunch. And it’s even more fun when I get to choose my favorite place.
- I am able to call our home office and talk to the friends that I’ve made over the years. Mostly about work stuff… but sometimes I can throw “other stuff” into the conversations as well.
- They provide me a salary so that I can afford my home, my car and food. And some other stuff too.

Yeah, those paychecks are pretty nice, huh? If it were me though, I’d likely blow it all on day one with that convenient shopping on the lunch hour. This job must be teaching you self control, too, huh?
Great list! It sounds like you have some pretty nice perks to your job. Blessings on your day!
Oh, THE BRIDGE! Two summers ago, my two roommates and I spent an OBSCENE amount of time by the pool. They always played that XM station. LOVED the music. Hated that it was the same playlist EVERY DAY! LoL
A good job just seems to make everything else a little easier.
Ha! You are right- mostly what you love is how you can get outside, walk, shop, and make $!
Sounds like a perfect reasons for loving your job….but i’d have to say the salary and making friends is the best!
Almost make ME want to be a sex therapist!!
Oh the memories of my so-called “real” employment. Hahaha!!!
I know what you mean about not actually loving what you do, you are young and it’s not too late to change careers, though these aren’t the best times to do so. But a lot of people keep their jobs for the very 10 reasons you listed. Sometimes it’s not what you do, it’s what you get in your work.
Back when I toiled in the
salt minecubicle prison I was grateful for the air conditioning (my house didn’t have it) and the free packets of cocoa that made the coffee drinkable. We’ve all got to pay the bills. These days I think most of us are just glad to HAVE a job!
I really liked the part about that guy who whistles show tunes! Ha! I’d love to play “name that tune” at work every now and then. I enjoyed your list! Makes me want to go shopping and go to a restaurant…
