Today I’m continuing the #WeddingWeek celebrations with a feature from Liz at A Belle, A Bean and a Chicago Dog. I’m not sure if I got to know Liz first from her blog or from twitter… or maybe it was her BBCD Blog Frog community. All I know is that I am very excited to meet her next year (hopefully) at a Bloggy Boot Camp event.

I’m also VERY excited for everyone to read her #WeddingWeek story about how she knew her husband wanted to marry her…

When I Knew He Wanted to Marry Me…
Craig and I met in college.
He noticed me first.
He says it was because he noticed me, like guys notice girls, but is quick to point out that most of what he saw of me was a profile of my face, mouth hanging open, sleeping during International Business.
Not an attractive first impression, I know.
But as the semester ended and I “disappeared” from campus, he later learned that I had developed mono, was hospitalized and had to take incompletes in all my classes.
Thus the mouth agape, sleeping Liz.
We had 2 classes together the following semester, one of which was Marketing Research.
He sat behind me and started writing “notes” to me on his scientific calculator, then handing it forward to me.
Disgustingly adorable, right?
We officially started dating about halfway through the semester, which was about 2 months before he was due to graduate.
He invited me to attend a wedding of an old family friend. It was in a nearby town, and he just wanted to stop in for the ceremony.
The day it happened was a perfect spring day.
Not too hot. The sun was shining.
I was happy to be away from campus.
We pulled up to the church and parked out front.
{Now, before I continue, I need to note one crucial story detail: Craig is shorter than me.}
We got out of the car and as I came around to his side, he slipped and said, “When we get married, you’re gonna need to walk down the aisle barefoot.”
{Cue dramatic record scratch}
It’s as if the world paused for a moment.
A look of terror overcame him.
{Gulp!}
But for me? Oh, I wasn’t the least bit alarmed.
I reached for his hand, gave it a squeeze and him a smile.
THAT was the exact moment I knew he wanted to marry me.
