I totally agree. Who knows the mind of God? We know he loves them…the reasons for anything else – it is presumptuous at best and down right cold at worst to make a statement like that. I hope there are lots of other Christians who are showing love and demonstrating a 'different' God.

You said what I feel so beautifully…I heard his statements on NPR the other day driving home, and it was all I could do not to yell at my radio. Then the person reporting noted that he apparently has a habit of blaming victims, in previous disasters and the 9-11 attacks, he blames those involved.

Rather than blame, why isn't he using his influence to extend love and aid? This leaves such a bad taste in my mouth…like you said, I'm horrified that he'd say something like this, EVER.

I agree that it was terrible that he said such a thing.

It's a country that is devastatingly poor. I mean, if God was going to intentionally destroy a nation, I think there are at least two dozen that would be in line before Haiti.

This was simply a tragedy, made worse by the fact that their low economic status prevented them from having adequate building standards. And I really want to do something to help...after I get paid.
