"Humanity’s litter"…

by Julie on 11.14.2009

So I’m dedicating this blog post to my dad… my brothers… my coworkers… and all you other golfers out there — just look at what you are doing!?!?

300,000,000 golf balls lost

Did you know how bad golf balls are for the environment? This article from CNN lays out information from the Danish Golf Association about the impact of golf balls disrupting the environment when you leave your golfballs and then when you pick them up later after they’ve started to decompose. Not only that, but even during the decomposing process so many non-natural elements are put into the ground and water around it.

Now I am not a golfer… I do understand that a lot of people enjoy the game, the challenge of it and especially the feeling of achievement when things are going well. I guess rather than rant too much about the subject… I will simply encourage each golfer out there to use biodegradable golf balls. Good for the environment, good for future generations.

Don't worry we are well on our way to storing that many golf balls in our basement so they aren't rotting out in the landfills or golf courses somewhere (I would love to find a new home for the "extra" golf balls BUT someone else in my family has other ideas).
