I’ve been taking a “Digital Photography for Beginner’s” course at the local arts council the last couple of weeks. Overall, I think this class is full of good information – just some of it I’m not going to ever use… and well, I think we might be able to learn more if the instructor would stay on his lesson plan. I’ve dubbed him “tangent boy” as he keeps telling strange things that only advanced people would know about… we in the class look at him dumbfounded.
Last week’s “assignment” was to take some photo’s of objects in a different perspective. I chose some flowers, a plant, my bookcase, a water bottle and my high school class ring.
About the ring… I got it in my freshman year of high school and instead of choosing some random pink stone (which some call my birthstone), I chose my father’s birthstone – the Emerald. Green also happens to be one of my favorite colors – so this works out well.
As I’ve mentioned on my blog before (not sure when though), I am smaller now than when I graduated from high school. It shows when you compare my senior picture to the professional pictures I recently had done. (And if I had a scanner right now, I would *SO* put one of my senior pictures in this blog post… NOT!!!!) I don’t know that I really gained a lot of weight throughout high school, but I can say that I am definitely smaller/more toned than I was as a freshman as well.
This class ring, which was chosen sometime during my freshman year of high school (and didn’t fit by the time I was a sophomore), now falls off my ring fingers and is BIG on my middle finger.
It just amazes me how much the body and mind can change… because I never, ever would have thought at the start of my journey that I would have been smaller now than I was in high school. Then again, in high school, I was in denial about who I was, how I looked, and definitely didn’t care about such things.
But high school is another subject… maybe for tomorrow. Or maybe not.
