So how often do you think about the people that make the fast food in your area? Do you think about how many times they wash their hands during the course of their shift? Have you considered the surfaces that your food is placed on, whether in the cooking area or especially in the public seating areas?
One of my Weight Watcher buddies shared this story the other day and I asked if I could pass it along via my blog. The story absolutely grossed me out… and has caused me to re-consider everything that I am eating when I eat out now. Since I’ll be on the road all day tomorrow – you can only imagine how much my mind has been in overdrive about this today.
Will you re-consider your fast food choices after reading this story? What will you do differently?
Here is the story…
Ok, so how’s this for divine intervention? Ok, it’s wasn’t really but whatever. I worked my ass off at the gym last night. Then I went to visit a friend in the hospital that just had a baby. I ended up staying there until almost 10pm chatting and holding the baby. So when I left there, I was STARVING. What did I do? I drove through Dairy Queen’s drive thru. And no, I didn’t order a salad… I ordered a burger, onion rings AND a blizzard. Oh yeah, I was throwing 10 workouts out the window.
So I pull up to the window, pay and she closes the window and at the same time I watch her hand a trash bag to a guy behind her. I watch him pull out the trash can, put the new bag in and then turn around and touch my food. She opened the window to hand me my blizzard and I just simply shook my head and said “I want my money back”. The manager came to the window, gave me my money and I told him how disgusting it was that he had someone handling trash and then WITHOUT washing his hands turning around and handling what was supposed to be my food.
As I pulled out, I thought, huh, shouldn’t have been there in the first place!! It will not hurt my feelings to never go back there again…I’m a germophobe according to my friends.
